Re: Memorial Garden
Thank you Samtibbs, for comforting words. This is exactly how I feel it too.

Re: Memorial Garden
Instead of the usual flowers or candles I'm leaving a set of Lady Justice's scales filled with polished gemstones in honor of our friend George who suddenly lost his battle with cancer. I'm so glad we spent time with him a couple of weeks ago.
George was our Commonwealth Attorney for quite a long time. He did all sorts of legal work and was very active in politics (which may or may not be such a good thing...but he was interested in making the world a better place for everyone.)
I'm not terribly sad,for he would have hated slowly withdrawing from life. His battle with diabetes had been struggle enough without the soul sucking drain of cancer. We thought his experimental treatments had been shrinking tumors. I think his body was tired.
I feel for his wife and children...and grandchildren. They're left behind. But, George lived a full life and I think his one regret was he didn't live long enough to see a female in the White House.

Re: Memorial Garden
Thank you Weesa. The family has decided on a memorial service this Saturday with burial at the old church graveyard. He was so well known in state issues,I'm sure there'll be a crowd. I hope to hear more funny stories about him.

Re: Memorial Garden
That's a lovely heart Lady. I can still picture the images from the television as if it was yesterday.

Re: Memorial Garden
I agree. Lovely memorials. I wish I could erase the memories and the accompanying emotions but they are part of my life as an American.
I suppose in my core,I really never want those lost to ever be forgotten even as we all move on with our lives.

I'd really like to post a lovely candle or floral display but Photobucket seems to have changed again and I can't copy and paste anything from my album.
Still, with or without tribute I salute the life and work of Peter O'Toole as a fabulous actor and marvelous character. From glamour parts to action, comedy and drama, over the years of his career he developed layers to his film performances that only became richer with age. We'll not see his like again soon.

Have two to add. May the all rest peacefully now.
Joan Fontaine actress best known for her role as Lina in Hitchcock's Suspicion.
Tom Laughlin, the actor who wrote and starred in the "Billy Jack" films of the 1970s.

Re: Memorial Garden
Thanks for the loving thoughts for my brother. He was an interesting person. His passion was Big Band music, so perhaps a little sax solo would be appropriate. He was a Doctor so he helped many people in his practice. I believe in reincarnation, so he will be reborn to another life and go on.

Re: Memorial Garden
I am so sad to have missed many memorial visits. I stopped getting reminders, and was not checking, since I usually get shunted straight to our home thread.
My thoughts and hugs to all, it has been a difficult year.
The young man we lost at work had committed suicide, why? We will never know.
My one female boss lost her daughter to suicide, right around Thanksgiving. Then 2 weeks later my direct boss Robert lost his wife. She went very quietly, snuggled up to him in bed. I am so sad for him. Last summer or main boss lost his brother to an illness. Needless to say we are ready for that trend to be over. But then on the 30th, one of my passenger friends passed suddenly. Our driver found her and tried to revive her, but he knew he was too late. She was doing Relay with me. A bright light has gone out. We have actually lost quite a few of our Dialysis clients in the last 2 months, Kathy being one of them.
I will refresh all the candles here and set out a new field of roses for my clients and friends - a mix of Peace, Sterling Silver Tea Roses, and Jacob's coat I think would be nice.
Love to all.

Missy, my deepest sympathies to you and your friend, yes it is rough to lose your mom, I like to think they are all having a good visit, with friends and loved ones, no more pain, suffering or such, just good times for all. Again hugs and prayers dear!

missypotter, my condolences to you, Kelly and her family. I send blessings to her mother. The good part is that she must have been a loving sweet person to have so many people care for her.
