Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Maxecat I hope the surgery was a success. I know how hard it is to be hopeful when you hear the "c" word but as you say we are not stamped with expiration dates.
Wanted to thank all of you for the healing thoughts for Mom she is much better and has been able to pick up some of her household chores again. She is still coughing, but not as much as before. Her main focus now is getting the strength back in her right arm, she had just had the cast off for a couple weeks before getting sick. On the plus side my brothers came and re-did the fence so Huck can't jump out any more, unless he gains the power of flight to jump an eight foot fence. Dad helped where he could but it was nice the boys and two of my nephews were able to most of it. My niece and nephew that live here were very happy to see that the work was done when they got home from visiting their mother.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Sounds great all around, Weesa!
Heads up, request coming in for a young man named Parker, I work with his mother. He is being evaluated for going on a heart transplant list. This amazing young guy has already gone through 5 open heart surgeries, and has been dealing with a strange arythmia lately, which is finally getting him on the list - which is what they want & need at this point.
Story is that the testing is going to take 8 hours on an operating table at Children's Hospital. They will be doing something like an ultrasound at the same time doing an extreme angiogram. For someone under 12, quite an ordeal. The testing is the week of Feb 18. Thank you for adding Parker & his mom, Jaydine, to your thoughts!
As for everyone else, continued good healing vibes for all!

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
I would love some really strong prayers and healing energy sent to little Jack Wells. He's the year old son of a young couple we've known for years.
Jack was born basically without half of his heart and has needed to wait all this time to be physically strong enough to attempt recontructive surgery.
He's precious. I met him last August on the first occasion of being out of his house...his immune system was so weak no one could touch him outside of his family and they were gloved..but he seemed comfortable with people talking to him. No one is quite sure if he's developmentally challenged and he's very small for his age but he seems to be a fighter and the doctor's are encouraged by his progress..
His surgery is February 12 and it would be a wonderful gift to his extended family if they could celebrate this Valentine's Day knowing Jack's heart was on the mend.

Prayers for Jack. It's so hard when little ones are so sick and suffer through so much.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
This is little Jack...when I met him in August he couldn't sit up. Now look at him.I have to keep looking up his exact diagnosis..it's bigger than he is...but come February 12 we all hope the doctors are right and he will be on his way to a better life.
I'll thank you all again for your energies. If it's in his best interest to improve and have a long life so be it. Otherwise he's still a little angel with lots to teach. I hope he'll find some relief from the fatigue and pain.

I hope the Facebook grapevine lets me know how the surgery turns out. I don't like contacting the families directly in case the news isn't what they prayed for.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Thank you,Weesa. It's always hard to see a baby struggle...and this little guy made a man of his dad.
His father had never known a real family.Basically he lived with whoever would take him in for awhile. He could have gone down a really bad path but his emotional heart is a good one..and he's one of the funniest human beings ever born.
His wife comes from a large (huge) family...Christmas Day alone meant 125 in a farm house! (that was just the immediate family!) She's a hard worker, always has been. They make such a nice couple and their children mean so much to them. We're all so hoping they get good news.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
I know this isn't as critical as most of the problems posted here, but my sister is almost 66 and has had the influenza for 6 days now. She is in so much pain and still running a fever. At this point it will be Tuesday before she could see a doctor to see if there is anything else they can do for her. She is on blood pressure meds and I am worried that 6 days of excruciating pain in her head will bring up her blood pressure and put her at risk for stroke.
She is very sick, and I would appreciate any prayers going her way.
Thanks

But if she goes without treatment, it could go critical! Of course she is added to mine - with a suggestion she go to the Urgent Care clinic if not the ER tomorrow! One gal here takes her kids to the ER all the time, even just a fever that Tylenol would help. But this could get serious very fast if she doesn't go in.
Thank you for asking! Always happy to add!

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Oh,missypotter,I'm so sorry to hear of your sister's fight. At this point the doctors could help with symptoms and maybe find ways of keeping the blood pressure down while she rides it out.
I know the coughing spells I had must have raised my blood pressure because afterwards my heart would race and I'd be panting...and I have very low pressure and pulse rate usually.
I agree with Karentia, let her see someone this weekend who could either give her some ideas for comfort or at least reassure her (and you) there's no danger with her blood pressure. Scary times.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Thanks Maxe and Karentia. Last night she was having trouble breathing and had chest pains and was light headed so she went to the ER. She has bronchitis on top of the flu and she is dehydrated. They fixed her up and sent her home with antibiotics and an inhaler. She was frustrated there is nothing to do for the influenza (I reminded her that is why I told her to go get Tamiflu before the 48 hours).
Bottom line is she is home and at least being partly treated. Thanks again for your prayers.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Is the inhaler one that spritzes a powder into the lungs or a nebulizer, missypotter? My nebulizer really brought relief. It also brought shaky hands for an hour but it was worth it.When I was having asthma on top of the bronchitis last December the combination of albuteral spray and nebulizer really saved me a trip to the hospital.
I'm glad your sister got some help. I guess the only way to guess whether or not it's the flu is whether or not the symptons come on all of a sudden or creep up on you.
Are you feeling more easy now?

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
I am not sure what kind of inhaler. She didn't say. She still has the flu, but they can't do anything for that. The headaches from that are her biggest complaint...until she couldn't breath last night.
I think she will recover from the flu better when the antibiotic kicks in and starts handling the bronchitis.
Yes, I am feeling better now someone has at least examined her.

Re: Prayer/Request Thread
Missy P - so glad to hear she did get seen! Why people wait so long, always a mystery to me. 'Don't want to be a bother'. Right, so you just go right on ignoring things till you are dead. Really? Not good.
Will keep sending her good clean healing thoughts! I mean yes, healing thoughts & prayers help amazingly well - but you still need the docs & medicines too - or God wouldn't have made any, right? Work it from both practices! Hugs to you too!

Missy P, sorry about your sister. First thing I thought was flu, headache, fever - dehydration. Glad she went to the ER and got some meds. Will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

One of my best friends, Debbie, told me today that her Mom has been diagnosed with a rare, very malignant form of cancer. They are taking her to a specialist soon and I would appreciate any prayers of support to assist her. Thanks.

Always, am adding your friend and her mother to my list. Hateful disease (but it's not always the winner in a good fight).
It's so hard watching friends going through a tough time and feeling helpless.
