Re: Memorial Garden
Thank you, everyone. Service is Friday, so I don't have to take any other time off.

Not sure how many of you remember Coolcrookshanks (Susan), but I read on Facebook that her sister passed away. It sounds like she was ill for a while and it is a blessing she moved on.

I remember her. She has an account here too. Will keep her and her family in my thoughts.

Re: Memorial Garden
I hope Susan and her family know we are supporting them, rough to loose a family member, even if it was a blessing of sorts! Hugs to them all!

What an impressive group. I'm finding more and more of the great ones are leaving us these days. Hope they are having a swell together.

Adding white flowers for those lost, the injured, and the pets who are also seperated from their families. Such a fierce reminder of how temporary life and structures can be.

Re: Memorial Garden
Just read the news and I've got tears in my eyes. I'm very sorry for people in Oklahoma. Poor kids in those two schools. In the news they said there was a teacher covering three kids whith her body. Kids were saved, she is badly injured. Prayers for all who need it.

Re: Memorial Garden
I am having such a hard time watching the coverage of this terrible tragedy. I think how can people live where this kind of thing happens so often. Then I think, I live on the ring of fire where they keep telling us we are over due for a 9.0 earthquake that will wipe us all out. I guess we are all in line for something.
I just can't believe it hit 2 elementary schools and a hospital. So sad. My prayers go out for all of them as well. I hope they get the help they need.

Lighting candles for 2 souls, one a very sweet client, young & independant, with cerebral palsey, passed from an accident. Second was one of our young guys at work recently hired, 21. Unsure of cause of death, lost him yesterday morning. Hearing of both tonight, in a short time frame, took the wind out of me.

Re: Memorial Garden
I am sorry Karentia. It seems like you have sure had your share of sadness recently. I hope you can find comfort in what sounds like, their good lives.
I will remember you in my prayers.

Re: Memorial Garden
I'm lighting a few candles and adding a new oak to our memorial garden in honor of my fire fighter friend,Tony.
He had been fighting leukemia since late last year and recently had a stem cell procedure. Post op infections and the total lack of white cells from the pre-procedure treatment left him too weak to stay any longer.
He was a very popular member of the community. Off duty police and firemen met his hearse on the interstate and escorted him 'home'. Of course we all feel badly for his wife, children and grandchildren but he's released from a life that had him trapped indoors,in and out of hospitals...not his style at all.
and I'd like to add a tribute to my friends' West Highland terrier Duncan who passed yesterday.
Duncan was a fuzz ball of fun who developed diabetes a couple of years ago. Even though his eye sight was failing he still loved a good romp outside, especially with his buddy Brody who helped him navigate the back yard.
His passing was fast and without trauma for him. The family is feeling the loss. This is the first example of death for Tessa(Dan Dan) Duncan and Brody are her first pets and at 10 she's never known death before. But,Duncan left on his own terms and was much loved.
I only feel badly for those left behind, those who are hurting..Tony and Duncan are probably already settling in.

Re: Memorial Garden
Beautiful candle arrangement samtibbs,thank you.
Tony has left a big hole...I helped his wife get in shape for their wedding,my younger son was a friend of two of their kids. And we had all been following the ups and (mostly) downs of his treatments.
He was a nice guy and there's plenty of scum still walking our streets. Not fair.

Re: Memorial Garden
Sorry to hear of your loss Maxecat. I often wonder myself at how there are so many still wandering around that don't seem to appreciate the life they have, while so many special wonderful people are gone.

Re: Memorial Garden
I think those that go on have finished their lesson or task or whatever brought them to this life and have no need to hang around unless they really want to.. or in the case of the seriously ill, they're rewarded with release.
For those still here, they still have more chances to do their work and learn (and redeem themselves or reach out to others)
It's always harder for me to see pets leave than people. You always hope you did enough for them. People can let you know while pets hold their secrets close.

Re: Memorial Garden
Today it's been 16 years since my father went over the rainbow. Still miss him much. I think I repeat it every year, but I can't help myself - he was fair, honest, hard working, true loving man who appreciated women. My childhood was very safe with him.
