What type of shows do you like to watch?
What types of shows do you like to watch? What are they about? Around here the types of shows that are popular are Mythbusters, Thundercats, Amazing Race. My husband & kids are very fond of a game show called"Wipeout". How about you?
Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
Well as mentioned before my current fave is Bones. Then there's Drop Dead Diva, Against the Wall, replays of Charmed and the Gilmore Girls. Enjoyed the new summer shows Switched at Birth and Nine Lives of Chloe King. Other than that I also watch a lot of HGTV and Food Network shows.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
My biggest favorite is Star Trek (original series).
More current shows I enjoy include all of the varieties of Law & Order (especially Criminal Intent, love Vincent D'Onofrio's character), Bones, Project Runway.
I occasionally watch Dance Moms because it is completely insane and comes on after Project Runway.
I do not like the competition shows that rely on contestants being mean to each other (Survivor) and trying to screw each other over, or the ones with bizarrely harsh judges (like Simon Cowell). I don't get how that's fun. Strange, given my love for Project Runway, eh? But there the criticism is based on the item being judged, and is not done to ridicule the individual. Also Project Runway is about celebrating the contestants talent and encouraging greater achievement. Michael Kors can be biting, but he's not doing it just to be a -----.
I don't like Wipeout ... tried watching it once and it was all people falling down in painful ways. Don't like the original Japanese versions much either, although I do have a fondness for the one where people have to dress up in costumes (I kind of remember one of ladies dressed up like Sailor Moon versus men dressed up as some videogame character) and do those sorts of physical challenges. The costumes and the translations of the narration are funny, but I don't make a regular habit of watching.
I also like to watch the trials on InSession. I was actually upset that they stopped covering the James Ray sweatlodge trial when Casey Anthony started ... and then I got hooked on Casey Anthony.

Like ladyhawke I don't care for Survivor or the shows like it. Too much cruel behavior. I used to to watch Gordon Ramsey's shows but after awhile it just got repetitive to me. I would love to see the network folks come up with something new and interesting to watch then actually leave it on the air, but I won't hold my breath.

Secret Love
I have to say I secretly love Wipe Out. I am not one for slapstick or physical trials, but the way they edit, the comments and replays just make me laugh. I really enjoy it, but my family doesn't get me on that.
I like a new show called Blue Bloods about a family of NYC cops. It is exciting but not real brutal and harsh. I have a bit of a soft side. That said my other favorite show is NCIS. That is about it for me and TV unless PBS is showing Jane Austen or ABC Family is having a Harry Potter weekend. ''

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
Has anyone seen "Once Upon A Time" or "Grimm Brothers"( I think that's what it's called.)? I meant to record them, but in the madness of the haunt I forgot? Does anyone know where I may be able to catch these first episodes?
I adore the Amazing Race. Cougar & I tried out for it again when they had the open casting call in Atlantic City a couple of months back. We were hopeful because we were one of the few teams where they took our application, & asked for our cel phone numbers. I suspect we weren't picked as we haven't heard anything yet.
I enjoy the Food Network since I'm a foodie. I like the cake challenges, & the show "Good Eats".

Once Upon a Time
I've been watching "Once Upon a Time" and am enjoying it very much. The cast and production values are excellent and I'll be staying tuned to see where they're taking the show. (Haven't seen "Grimm".)

Good to see you here, Always! Do you know if they are going to be replaying the first episode? "Grimm" seems like it's going to be the darker of the two.
@missypotter; (Hugs!) Hey! Glad you're here! What you said about "Wipeout" is the very reasons my family likes watching it. i have ot confess though I wonder how some of them don't end up in a wheelchair with the way they land on their necks, etc. Ouch!

I forgot to mention two of my relatively new favorites. I enjoy The Mentalist on CBS. It is pretty entertaining. But I love Castle on ABC. Such a fun show with a great supporting staff.

Eagleskyfire... I haven't heard whether ABC is going to repeat "Once Upon a Time"s first episode, but if not, you CAN watch it - or any of the episodes so far - online here via the ABC website.

Hello everyone: javascript:emoticonp('')
I love television too much. My favorite shows are Burn Notice, Suits, In Plain Sight, Royal Pains, White Collar (USA channel really delivers) Eureka, Warehouse 13, Torchwood, Terra Nova, Falling Skies, Grimm, Once Upon A Time, Haven, Chuck, The Secret Circle, Person of Interest (I love Sci-Fi) 60 Minutes, The daily show, The view, Democracy now, Real time with Bill Maher ( I have a love hate relationship with him javascript:emoticonp('')).
Other show I like but I have not seen all episodes Drop dead diva, Harry’s Law, Hart of Dixie, Ringer, Who do you think you are (different countries) Hung (don’t judge me) documentaries (this makes up for Hung. I really love documentaries) Body of Proof, Boss, Covert Affairs (is a USA show, but I do not like it that much) Futurama, Simpsons, Homeland, Nikita, Revenge, Rizzoli and Isles, Spooks/ MI5, Suburgatory, The lying game, Unforgettable. Anything by Candice Olson or Sarah Richardson.
I am sure I am forgetting others javascript:emoticonp(''). Its hard to believe I have a life, but I do. javascript:emoticonp('')

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
I haven't visited this thread much...too busy watching tv,maybe?
I admit it, I love tv...for the first 8 years or so I lived in my present house we didn't get to watch much except in winter when reception was better. We live in a little dip and air waves didn't reach us and there was no cable or satellite. Now we've satellite for tv and one for internet service. We look like we're doing studies for NASA,I swear.
I like most of the shows mentioned so far...I like documentaries too and the early seasons of Eureka..love Bones,House,Person of Interest. My husband and I record Top Chef (he likes to cook) I like Project Runway but never understand why certain people win...obviously I have some style issues. I never watch things like Dancing with the Stars,American Idol or Survivor but have been know to peek in on various tacky "Housewives" in different locales.Somehow I like my own life much better after seeing that drama.

Did anyone watch PBS on Sunday? They showed Persuasion then Miss Jane Regrets and started the new season of Downton Abby. Has anyone seen the first season of Downton Abby? If you like BBC period pieces, you will really enjoy this. It is set in the early 1900s and is a bit more racy than Jane Austen. I highly recommend it for a fun diversion.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
My brother sent me a copy of Downton Abbey for Christmas. I'm waiting for a snowy afternoon alone to watch it. We've got flurries at the moment...and it is cold,so we'll see.

We're waiting for Bones too. I think this is the winter finale...guess they'll pick up again before May sweeps. They gave Emily a lot of time to spend with her new baby.
One of the repeats is on now..with Stephen Frye..Gordon Gordon...love the word play.
Larry's getting more used to the maggots and splitting flesh that are so graphic on this show. We try not to eat stew on Bones night.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
Since we have a small kids we don`t watch tv in front of them. So only time I can switch on the tv is from 8 PM. We are watching: Dr. House, The Bones, The Grey`s Anathomy, I`m watching Star Trek with Patric Stewart, we liked Midsomer`s Murdres. From sitcoms I like The Nanny, Fraiser, Friends, How I met your mother and The Big Bang theory.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
I always giggle when Gordon Gordon is on. He cracks me up. Did you see the one where he reveals that he was a rock singer in his early days? Fabulous. Yeah food is something that doesn't go well with Bones. Wish there wasn't such a wait til the next episode.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
Ok, y'all have convinced me of getting tv with the new house. I miss a lot of shows, but know I wouldn't get as much done.
I miss House, Bones, original CSI, TLC network, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic channel, and had gotten hooked on SyFy and some wedding cake show. Odd choices, but guilty pleasures, right?

You know many of the channels have free full episodes on their websites now. You can watch on your own schedule and don't have to get tv.

Only watched part of the Golden Globes. They were boring and redundant as usual. My bad for tuning in.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
Just watched the first episode of Jason Isaac's new series, Awake. Very interesting concept of two "realities". One of them is a dream (maybe?)... but which one? I found myself quite caught up in it. Jason is, as ever, excellent, though I gotta say I do miss his British accent. His American accent is pretty good, though there was a touch of Brit here and there. Did anyone else catch it?

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
I started watching it,too,Always. Recorded it last night. Because I was watching the storm warnings I set it aside after a few minutes but I'm looking forward to it. did you see him as the crooked brother in Brotherhood. It was only on for a couple of seasons..he played it with a New England accent then. I love his work and this one looks interesting.
This month I've been enjoying the 31 days of Oscar from TCM...I get a chance to see my favorites..at least the ones I haven't found in dvd form.No matter how new and shiny the technology becomes,I'm still drawn to the old b&w classics (even at their corny best)
oh dear, 2001 is on and I don't think I can stay awake through that. I saw it on a date with a very nice guy who never asked me out again..so I have mixed feelings about the film.

Didn't see Brotherhood but did see him in Case Histories, in which he was absolutely wonderful. What a powerhouse performance! Hope PBS airs the other three episodes one of these days. Till then, I've set my dvr to record each episode of Awake so that I don't miss anything.

Re: What type of shows do you like to watch?
Brotherhood was interesting with JI playing the crooked brother who's code of honor was stronger and more true than his so called "good" brother the politician. At one point he suffered a brain injury that affected his personality...he did confusion and frustration very well.
Obviously the bad boy was more fun to watch.
I received my lastest dvd of Midsomer Murders and I'm torn ...do I watch the old reliable Inspector Barnaby and the lovely, but deadly,English countryside or check in to Jason's new work...too bad he can't toss Lucius' platinum hair around and sneer.
